Your Physical Therapists
Laura Favaro, PT, MS, FAAOMPT, Cert. MDT, owner of Phoenix Physical Therapy and New York State licensed Physical Therapist, has nine years experience in hospital and outpatient settings. She graduated from Ithaca College where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Science and a Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy. She is currently completing her Physical Therapy Doctorate (tDPT) degree at D'Youville College. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT), and the McKenzie Institute International (MII-USA). After completing a fellowship training program through Daemen College in Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy in 2010, she received the designation as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT). She completed advanced training and was awarded certification in Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment in 2011, also known as the McKenzie Method. She served as Western District Chairperson of the New York Physical Therapy Association (NYPTA) in 2010. Laura is also an Instructor of Physical Therapy in the graduate department at Daemen College, assisting with musculoskeletal laboratories. Laura is an exercise enthusiast and a certified Spinning(R) program instructor. She lives in Snyder with her husband and new baby.
Kristen Robison, PT, DPT, New York State licensed Physical Therapist, has been practicing for 10 years. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from SUNY at Buffalo in 2002 and completed her Doctorate of Physical Therapy (tDPT) degree from Des Moines University in 2007. She has worked in a variety of clinical settings, but has found that she enjoys the outpatient orthopedic setting most. She recently completed the fourth and last course of the McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy program for treatment of spine and extremity pain and sits for the certification exam in 2012. She is also a busy mom of two and enjoys reading and exercise when she has the time! Kristen not only enjoys seeing positive changes as a result of physical therapy but also the great repoire that can develop between patient and therapist!
Ryan Shannon, PTA , New York State licensed Physical Therapist Assistant, graduated with an Associates degree in Applied Science from Niagara County Community College in 2003. Ryan began her career as a traveling physical therapist assistant, working in a major medical trauma center for the state of South Carolina. Her next traveling positions were both rehab setting where she worked with a variety of patients ranging from strokes to orthopedic conditions. Ryan returned to Western New York in 2005 and worked in rehab and outpatient positions before joining Phoenix Physical Therapy in September 2009. Ryan has completed several continuing education courses, but most recently many with manual physical therapy focuses including: Mulligan Concept- Upper Quadrant, MyoFascial Release Techniques, Positional Release/Counterstrain and spinal traction courses. She also plans to begin her McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy training track by attending the first in a series this winter. Ryan is an active volunteer in her church community. She enjoys spending her free time with her husband and young family.
Exercise prescription and manual therapy are the main tenants of our practice.
