If you are using your health insurance to pay for Physical Therapy, a doctor's prescription is required.

New York is what is known as a "direct access" physical therapy state. This means patients in New York who need physical therapy can now go directly to their physical therapist without having to wait to receive a referral from a physician, greatly reducing the time it takes to begin restorative treatment. You are allowed to directly access the services of a physical therapist for 10 visits or for a period of 30 days, which ever occurs first.

On your first visit to Phoenix Physical Therapy, a comprehensive evaluation of your pain, mobility restriction or injury will be performed. We will discuss if your condition is appropriate for physical therapy treatment or if you will need to be evaluated by your physician before continued treatment takes place. Together, we will set goals in order to track your progress toward full and pain-free function and will schedule follow-up visits as necessary.
